Um, maybe the 1% has been getting major tax cuts since the BUSH administration put them in place, so that they would create jobs? Remember? That was a long time ago, and I don't recall a lot of jobs being created due to those tax cuts. No, wait, those who want to bash Obama and his administration have selective memories. If you think the 1% has any intention of remaining anything BUT the 1%, no matter who is in office, you are truly delusional.

Look at me I have stocks valued more than your house. I am rich show me a good time. I really don't care about Omaha all I want is to be treated as an ELITE

Such hoopla over this event is tacky. I don't care if the event is held; it is just too big of a deal in the Omaha media. With so many folks struggling to keep their homes, make ends meet, get the kids to college, and put food on the table, this conspicuous consumption and love affair with wealth is repulsive to many. It is not envy, it is disgust with all of the glorification of folks who smugly pat each others' backs for being so wonderful. And if they aren't doing this (and not all do), the media is doing the job for them. Ridiculous.

I'm a shareholder and quit going because it's "The Warren Show" more than a shareholders meeting. As a shareholder, I would prefer to hear about Berkshire's performance, strategy, results and future plans, But instead, those who ask questions ask about irrelevant issues to Berkshire for the most part. And unfortunately, this is Warrens preference. Although it's impressive that over the last year BRK stock has remained stable, it certainly hasnt gone up and WB hasn't made a single purchase with the cash the company is sitting on...certainly a sign his legacy is coming to an end sooner than later.

You are uninformed. Girls, Inc. receives big money. The Susie Buffet Foundation gives huge amounts. Because you don't hear it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I second that!! I avoid these areas every year when the 1% come to Omaha.

It's great that these visitors can give Omaha thousands of dollars in sales tax. But, do any of you realize that the person who made this possible does not donate ANY MONEY to the area for anything? Yes, he donated BILLIONS (tax free) to the Gates Foundation but not one cent was spent locally.

Um maybe they would if Obama wouldn't create so much uncertainty with his threats of higher taxes and a health care bill we have no idea if is going to go thru or not! You know how much money businesses are sitting on right now? Man Obama would win in a land slide if he stop demonizing the producers in this country and let them be!!!

Good to have the One Percenters in town.. Welcome. When you all get back home, could you please create some jobs like President Bush said you would eleven years ago.
Posted by: To Jim on May 4, 2012 at 01:41 PM

Jim, I will speak for myself here. No, I cant afford $1K/share stock. But then again I dont hold Warren Buffet high on a pedistal either. On poster here is asking if people still 'kiss his driveway'. You mean to tell me the guy's reached God-status with investors? There's something seriously wrong, if so.
Posted by: Jim on May 4, 2012 at 12:50 PM

These posters can't aford Berkshire stock so they complain.
Posted by: Anonymous on May 4, 2012 at 12:41 PM

obviously the commenters on here are not stockholders nor business owners-hotels, cabs, restaurants, retail stores or the multi-tudes of people who will benefit from having 35000 people in town, wanting to spend money. Not to mention the goodwill generated. Very possibly these same people may recommen Omaha for a convention or sporting venue for future events. Omaha couln't buy this type of advertising.

I know what you mean. Nausious already after hearing 2-3 days of Warren-this and Warren-that on the news. 20 years ago, it was Warren WHO? Now he can walk on water. Oh wait--that's what his investor's think; thats right.
Posted by: RJ on May 4, 2012 at 12:31 PM

Oh gag me with a spoon.
Posted by: CK on May 4, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Boy oh boy what a thrill. Guess I can declare a moratorium on local news until Tuesday, since that's all the coverage will be about this weekend (always is).
