I happen to know the kid in this story. This scared the living daylights out of me when I read the story. The reason being that at some points I'm sure he thought he was going to die. That is truly scary.

I hate to sound like an old woman, but in my day Spring Break meant going home to mother, laying on the couch and doing laundry. Heck, half the kids I knew stayed in the dorms and got caught up on studying. Nothing good can come out of a bunch of 19 year olds getting drunk in a foreign country, especially when the locals know they're coming. I'm glad this boy is okay. Could have been much worse.

"Don't leave the resort, stay in groups, and don't trust strangers." Pretty much common sense.

That would be the first word that comes to my mind. Thankfully he got out with his life and hopefully others will heed the warning that we all know. You are told to stay in groups for a reason!

What part of the craziness that is going on in Mexico and the kidnapping and murders did the parents miss when they chose Mexico instead of Florida or Texas for spring break. Glad he is OK.

With all of the bad press about violence in Mexico and the additional travel warnings, why would anyone want to go there for spring break? Not very smart.

This kid is lucky to be alive. Obviously he has not watched the news recently.

Last I checked there were travel warnings in place for Americans travelling in Mexico. Maybe they have been removed. I thought it was well known that Mexico, even Cancun was violent and crime ridden. Odd you would allow your kid to go

Do people not read or watch the news. The biggest stories were to stay out of Mexico. Lucky they did not stuff him full of drugs and make him deliver them. Really surprised he made it out alive, most are shot and buried in the desert.

Why in the "h" would you go to Mexico? OMG, how stupid! Pay attention to the Mexico "news" will you? Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. "He didn't think" that's putting it mildly.

Maybe you should have read the warnings and not went to Mexico.

You'd think the bad food, bad water, and garbage would be enough to keep most people away. Who hasn't heard stories like this invovling tropical destinations. The closer you go toward the equator the less well behaved and less self reliant the people are.
