Forty finalists will compete this weekend for the opportunity to perform the national anthem during this year’s College World Series. They were selected from about 100 applications. Seventeen will be selected.
The auditions will take place at TD Ameritrade Park Saturday morning. Judges will face a variety of contestants – young & old, singers, musicians, even a mother/daughter team.
Among those who are auditioning is Lexi Larsen, a country music stinger from Nashville, Tennessee. Jamie & Alexandra Jensen, a mother & daughter duet from Louisville, Nebraska. Music teacher Mary Little from Elkhorn.
Another candidate who knows the College World Series will be Charles Martin. He is a longtime season ticket holder and a trumpet player from Oak Lawn, Illinois.
