The Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected a request for a new trial from a 47-year-old Omaha man convicted of murder for the strangulation death of his girlfriend.
Patrick Bauldwin was convicted of second-degree murder and
sentenced in 2010 to life in prison for killing 40-year-old
Pasinetta Prince in February 2006.
Bauldwin's attorney had argued, among other things, that the
lower court erred by allowing Bauldwin's statements to police,
which were made after he had invoked his right to remain silent.
The state's high court agreed in its opinion Friday that a
Douglas County court erred by allowing Baldwin's statement to
police into evidence, but found the error harmless and affirmed
Bauldwin's conviction and sentence.
