Lincoln police are looking for a man trying to coax kids into his car.
Capt. Jason Stille said two separate cases were reported just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. Stille said a 9-year-old boy leaving Roper Elementary in the area of 18th and G reported that a man drove up and asked him to get into his car to help him look for his dog. The boy said no and called police.
Two girls in the same area reported a similar incident to police. It was the first time their mother let her 5 and 9-year-old daughters walk home from school.
“My 9-year-old told my 5-year-old to start running and then my older daughter ran away after her,” said the mom who didn’t want to be identified. “The guy drove away and came around the block and as they were passing the next block the guy stopped in front of them, told them don't be scared, just get in the car and they went around the car and kept running.”
Stille said the man is between 20 and 30 years old with brown or blond hair, possibly driving a light metallic-colored car.
