Why is it okay for people to make generalizations about one area of town and not another? You people saying people in west o can afford their own pools are probably the same people who throw a fit when someone points out the north o has more crime. Ive lived on west o all my life and know maybe one person with a pool and I certainly do not belong to a country club.

More to the point, they pay enough property taxes to support their own public services, unlike some parts of the city which have such depressed property values that they cannot float their own boat.

Close them all. Don't need them.

So our tax dollars should only fund pools in North, South and East Omaha? Nice entitlement mentality you have there.

Because the city "leadership" does not feel a bunch of pressure to provide activities for the children and youth of West Omaha. If not for the public pools (paid for by the property owners in all of Omaha)in other parts of the city, there would be outrage that the city was doing nothing to keep the kids off the streets and out of trouble.

Why? Because we have Country Clubs that have pools, that's why.

I would venture to guess that if the City would not continue to pay for "certain" department health insurance premiums for life as well as ..oh I don't know.... pensions that are absolutely insane I am betting there would be enough funds to go around for plenty of pools

This will be another Suttle/Gray mistake.

They are building a huge elementary school two blocks from Morton Pool. Surely that indicates a population that would use the pool!

Close it down, it is vandalized every other day and the cost of keeping it open because the neighborhood doesn't care about it the cost is to much to bare.

There are no public pools in west Omaha, why?

If you close a neighborhood swimming pool, it will force the kids to other pools. Therefore you will have overcrowding besides fights etc.
