this story was followed by the clean-up of dodge park, somehow we always find money to clean that park up and fix it when it floods every third year.

I agree, close them all. We don't need a swimming pool in every area of Omaha. When I was a kid in Co. Bluffs, we had one pool Crystal Pool. You hoofed to it, rode your bike or took the bus, that is after doing your home duties. It didn't kill us then and it certainly wouldn't kill today's "spoiled kids." If you didn't have the money to swim, you got out the garden hose and cooled off. Ah for the good old days when society didn't think they should fill our days with activities, we found things to do.

It is very sad to see this pool go. I have alot of great memories going to this pool when I was a kid. There use to be a house on sight where the park caretaker lived with his family, a great bunch of people. I wish this story would have included alittle history of this park. When they built Hitchcock pool, was the beginning of the end to this great park.

Just the end result of many years without maintenance. City officals collectively can take responsibility for this and any other city owned property that is in poor maintenance.

I agree, with these million dollar pensions rolling out, something's got to give. Road re-surfacing is getting cut this year, new cop cars will be rentals, another sales tax bill in the unicameral. Watch for more of this to cover for these greedy unions.

that's the same story they gave when they closed Mockingbird heights pool, and they never reopened it. That pool is all but filled in.

Maybe the city should come down on some landlords around the area and fix those problems.

Omaha is getting buried by Suttle's mistakes.

Why does everyone think it is the city's job to make sure the kids are off the streets. Last time I checked, I thought that was suppose to be a parent's job. As for West O; not everyone can afford a pool in their own backyard. Even if we could, who would want one anyway? They are a pain in the rear to keep up. However, since we pay more taxes as a whole (because of the money we supposedly make), why isn't there a pool out this way? Contrary to popular belief, we all don't belong to a country club!
