My grandfather Frank Faketty lived in that home with his wife and daughters: Ann(wife) Patricia(my mom, daughter) Frances ( daughter ) Rita ( daughter ). He would be devistated to see it go. He is now deceased along with two of his daughters and ex-wife Ann. It is ashamed to see it go. I have no more family history of the place once it is gone!:(

My Grandfather ran Morton Pool long ago , and taught most of the older folks in the neighborhood to swim. My Grandfather passed away in 2009 and shortly after they want to close the pool. If you take $500,000 to demolish the pool and put in a splash park I think it is going to cost the city more in the long run. As for violence and gang graffiti it wont stop. The splash park is open 24/7 hmm!! Lets give kids a better reason to be on the streets after ten. They only do this kind of thing to us in South Omaha. They keep taking away from our kids and wonder why the get into trouble. There is nothing for the kids to do. Skate Town : gone SkateLand : gone Peony Park : Gone . We as a community need to fight what is right for our neighborhoods. We have lots of families buying homes in this area due to the pool and they are closing it down!!DUMB DUMB DUMB!! WAY TO GO POLITICIANS. WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT SOUTH OMAHA?????????

The renovation would be complete with the removal of the city councilman who pretty much has done NOTHING for S. Omaha.

If it your kids that need to be entertained then it is your job as a parent to do just that.

It doesnt take much to dump a bunch of dirt into a hole.

Those of you that want the pool to remain open then open up your checkbook and write the city a check for $500,000.00. Public pools already lose money hand over fist when they don't need major maintenance repairs.

There is no mention of the cost associated with demolishing the pool. Knowing this city's government, the cost will be in the vacinity of $500,000 - and the contract will be awarded to some politician's relative.

They will not be able to use other pools because they will be too far to walk. They can now walk because it is close to where they live. If they have to go to another neighborhood pool miles away, they will not be able to and who suffers? The kids. Not their fault. However, you also cannot put that much money into something that is not worth saving. Something needs to take its place though.

In which particular pools have you observed fighting? I've never seen any at Papio Bay in over a decade of taking my kid there.

Well not all people in North O are on welfare and/or are gangbangers, but that's the generalization you see on these posts all the time. If one part of the city gets bashed, it opens it up for all parts to be bashed. I don't know why people don't understand that.

Wasn't a rather large aquatic center just built out at Zorinsky a year or two ago?

What a shame! Another activity taken away from the kids. No wonder thier out there graffing. What else is there to do?

Yet another mistake for the Suttle/Gray duo. Reality it is our kids who suffer the consequences of grown ups mistakes. They complain about kids not having somewhere to go play yet they take the place for them to play away from them. What kind of message are you sending these kids? The one that you really don't care about them. Words certainly don't match your actions.

When you get a pool like this in a neighborhood like this where crime & vandalism occurs on a regular basis, it's no wonder why they want to close it down. A few rotten apples have to spoil the whole bunch. Your thug punk neighborhood kids are to blame for this.....NO ONE ELSE !!! You can't blame the city, the city council, property taxes, etc. It all lies with WHERE the pool is located. PERIOD !!!

Did I see grafitti on the walls of the pool? One can only guess who would do this....
