Then you better leave your kids in a little bubble in your house because you will never stop people smoking from being around them.

If second hand smoke is so deadly, why wouldn't pack a day smokers die in a week? It's overblown hype for the most part, but as a smoker, I have no issue with the in door ban. I rather welcomed the ban. Banning it outside is rather ridiculous. I do think though people need to be more considerate about littering though...there are ash trays so please use them.

I smoke and I do not (no, not ever) litter the city with butts. Oh crap, guess that makes me a one percenter! By the way Albert Einstein was a smoker.

Exactly! We gave them smoke free establishments and now they are trying to go even further with it. It's extremely pathetic. Non-smokers (which I am one btw) aren't the only people in this state and should not expect to be exclusively catered too. Smokers have rights too and non-smokers rights don't trump them.

I've always suggested doing a "sin" tax on establishments that want to allow smoking, which would encourage many places to ban it to be exempt from the tax, but also allow places that truly want to allow it to be able to.

they will rearrange their budgets accordingly.

You misunderstand what your right means. You are not forced to go to a certain park, and you are not being forced to be around a smoker. You are able to go to a different location where there is not someone smoking and get the same experience. Therefore you are trying to use your rights to suppress theirs. Doesn't work that way skippy. You do realize if you have children around and politely ask a smoker to move further away or put their cig out, they will, right? It's when you get pushy and start screaming about rights that they return your rude attitude.

This idea I can get behind. I am opposed to the sweeping ban, but this makes sense.

They would have to be smoking with the intent to kill you. Learn how the law works.

You can continue to smoke, it is just as harmful to your health as drinking or using drugs. It was legal before the health issues were discovered. Keep on smoking! You are only killing yourself, you can smoke 2 packs a day and still function, I hope you are not naive enough to think it is not harmful to you? And you speak of the tax dollars...it has to go back to the healthcare to take care of dying smokers.

I did not say they were synonymous with litter, but go walk around a city parks ball field and see what you see? I just do not want smoking around my kids. I am fine with it around me, I can walk away, just not around my kids. I am sure you can understand that reasoning.

See, give them an inch and they will take more than a mile. But boy, they sure do like that tax money.

Be kind to smokers; they are a dying breed.
