Tim, Shawn Mason is a close family member of mine, I along with the rest his family, and friends are mourning his loss. Have some compassion like you'd want if this was your loved one. Many are suffering a great loss because of this terriable accident. Shawn was a great man who did everything for his family and served his country. He was honerable and deserves respect. Please keep unkind comments to yourself. Rest in peace Shawn you'll forever be missed!

I don't know if a helmet would have helped or not but that being a part of the story seems odd. Such a very sad story. My families thoughts go out to this family. Please, all others, be safe, consider wearing helmets. they do save lives.

@Tim: I had the privaledge of working with Shawn and he was meticulous beyond measure. Please don't speculate about someone in this context because you don't know him and his family and loved ones deserve to read uplifting comments as opposed to assumptions.

Dear tim show some respect to a family that just lost someone very special. This is a trying time for anyone who ever had the honor of meeting him.

so sad and a week before he is expecting his firstborn. Horrible prayers are with the family

I wonder if he read the owners manual on how steep of grade the atv can handle without tipping backwards? I guess he thought it was worth the risk and that is sad.
