Stranger Takes Pictures

A man is caught taking pictures of a young girl inside an Omaha Walmart. Now the mother is warning other parents to be on the lookout.

Amber Weinacht is a mother of three who just added two new kittens to her family. On Sunday night she went with her son and daughter to the Walmart at 128th and L to pick up kitten food. That’s when she first noticed something out of the ordinary. “We were walking into the store and as we were walking into the door I saw a gentleman out front smoking and he was eyeballing my daughter,” said Weinacht.

It was only the beginning. “We went to the very back of the store and we were getting kitten food and within a minute I saw him walk by us in the aisle, which obviously meant he followed us back here. I nudged my oldest son and said ‘Oh my gosh, he followed us back here.’”

It’s then she realized what the man was doing. “My son looked over and the guy was standing about a foot from my daughter. He had his phone out and he was taking pictures.” “I was frozen in fear. I’ve never dealt with an older man looking at my child this way,” said Weinacht.

Her son told the man to knock it off. The man then walked away and the family notified a store employee, but she says the store didn’t do anything. She wishes store security would have held the man and called police.

Weinacht plans to file a police report and wants to warn other parents to beware. She describes the man as 6’2”, 35 to 40 years old, with light brown hair. He was wearing khaki cargo pants and a navy blue hoodie with faded white checkers on it.

Channel 6 did contact Walmart to ask about their protocol in this situation. We will let you know what they say as soon as they respond.
