A terrible case of animal cruelty and neglect, has led to the arrest of an Omaha woman. Monday, members of the fugitive task force arrested Mashaunda Ball, 34, for Felony Animal Cruelty.

On November 26, Nebraska Humane Society officers were called to Ball's home near 56th & Manderson. Ball was calling to say her Boston Terrier was dead.

When NHS arrived on the scene, they found the Boston Terrier, Bubbles, in a black wire dog cage in the basement. Bubbles was not dead, but was lying on its side and not responding to officers or its surroundings.

The dog was covered head to toe in its own urine and feces, and it appeared to be extremely emaciated. The dog's rib cage, vertebrae, and hip bones were protruding.

Bubbles was rushed for emergency veterinarian treatment, however the dog's condition quickly worsened and it was humanely euthanized.

A necropsy was conducted and showed Bubbles suffered from lack of proper feed, lack of proper veterinary care, and being kept in filthy conditions.

The dog had no internal body fat and though there was some food in its stomach, there were also five pieces of sharp plastic in the stomach which would have been very painful for the dog to endure.

Mashaunda Ball was charged with Felony Animal Cruelty in the case.
