A 21-year-old door-to-door magazine salesman said when his supervisor was arrested, he and others in their crew were left in a Sarpy county neighborhood.
The magazine seller who would only use a name of Kenny said, “I’m in Nebraska and I’m from California. I was lost. It was 11:40pm and I can’t go knocking on people’s doors.”
The leader of the magazine crew Bradley Griffin was arrested while driving erratically in Bellevue. Officers found he had no driver’s license and while in the police cruiser its alleged Griffin kicked out a cruiser window. Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey said, “The business practices are concerning. They had no permits, no driver’s licenses and the amount of violence displayed by the one individual is troubling.”
Griffin bonded out on misdemeanors that include criminal mischief. The seller said shortly after the supervisor wanted the crew selling again door to door. The seller said,” He just said that’s part of the lifestyle it’s more than a job.”
The supervisor listed Midwest circulation of Missouri for his employer. But a spokesperson for the company said Griffin is an independent contractor. As for lack of permits for door to door salesmen she said the company doesn’t need them because they take orders for magazines they don’t sell the magazines themselves.
However the Bellevue city clerk said that doesn’t matter. The company sales people are required to have permits.
