The contractor applied for the permit, got turned down, and then tells the news that the homeowner is responsible for the permit. If that's the case, why did the contractor apply for it in the first place? Sounds like a terrible liar to me.

It's the same story over and over, just with different contractors. Don't pay upfront!!! How many times have we seen this?

As a general contractor I never take money up front. DO NOT hire anyone that wants money up front.

10 days to get a permit thur the system sounds like they need people there who can fill it out in 2 hours time. What are these 500 pages long there is no reason for it to take 10 days for the paper work to get done no way. I think the city needs to do something about this 10 days that is a joke and wrong.

The contractor is correct, P and I often will take days to make their inspection. They mist have to pay a fine if they cannot make their inspection within 24 hours after a notice. P and I cannot be allowed to slow construction. Home owners and contractors should be allowed to pay the fee and receive an inspection certificate by fax or in the mail. P and I is inept.
