This is actually pretty common in a lot of places. I don't know how they do it with out getting electrified but it happened a lot around CB a few years ago. They would pull them down, strip them of wire and then throw what was left in the river. We had to get what was left out of the river because it might be toxic.
Why do people take anything that doesnt belong to them Question? These morons obviously didnt think before acting. They are lucky to be alive. They just wanted the copper wiring inside to sell for scrap for meth money.
Even stealing like this take a certain level of ambition. The occupiers just hold out their hands and say, "gimmie".

Really? Don't you think they would try and do something like that in a more affluent area? Odds are it's someone in need of getting a fix that did it.
They were after the copper wire connected to the transformer and perhaps the copper wire inside the transformer.
The fact this happened in the early morning hours of MAY DAY which is the day Communists celebrated their accomplishments(?) and a day now taken over by the Occupy radicles is not lost on most people.
Darwin ought to take care of these clowns before to long. If they don't get fried, they'll pick the wrong transformer and end up with every ind of cancer known to man.
Hope scrap dealers would turn in their shady suppliers but I don't have faith in a suspect being mentioned through that means.
I hope they suffered something painful in the process.
No need for the cops to go door-to-door to see what anyone witnessed, because "nobody saw nuthin".

I'm sure OPD will be right on it. Go getem guys!!!! LOL Every power pole in town is supposed to have a ground wire that runs down the pole to a ground rod and every one is cut and gone as far up as an adult can reach. A sure fire way to catch these idiots is to have something stamped on the cable like "utility" or "OPPD" every 12 inches. Anyone caught trying to sell the cable should get arrested.
