Beau Knutzen describes it like a truck tire exploding on the highway.

Knutzen says, “We about jumped out of our seats it was deafening.”

Knutzen pulled over and looked for damage then called 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 tape tells what he found. “Someone threw a massive rock from the side of the road onto my car.” The recording states.

The incident occurred about two in the morning along West Dodge just east of 168th. No other cars were close by so Knutzen is convinced it was thrown.

In the daylight Knutzen searched along the roadway and found a Master key lock he says fits the dent in the side of his pickup about head high next to the passenger side of the windshield. Knutzen says, “My wife was sitting right there so she’s about five foot three and it would have hit her in the head.”

Neither Knutzen or police found anyone on the bike trail that runs under the bridge where the object was likely thrown.

Knutzen turned the lock over to police to determine if it might be, as he suspects, the object thrown at his vehicle. A random act of stupidity he calls it.
