A St. Bernard is back with its rightful owners after someone threw the dog from a car.

A driver witnessed that animal cruelty east of Glenwood, Iowa but the dog was rescued by volunteers for Hooves and Paws.

The dog's owners contacted Hooves and Paws after seeing the story on Channel 6 News.

The owners suspect the dog was either stolen or somehow got loose and someone found him, took him, and later tossed the animal from the car.

The 120 pound St. Bernard survived several days roaming creek beds and eating a dead deer. That's after being shoved out of a moving car that the witness said had two adults and two children inside.

Genea Stoops, owner of Hooves and Paws says, "Can you imagine shoving the dog out with two children who see that?"
