Opening a new school, the new school year, and my clothes are a little baggy.

Wow, sorry I haven't written for a while. It's been pretty hectic here lately. This last week has been a very successful week.

I'm a school board member on the AHST school board. Sunday we had the Grand Opening for our brand new PK-6 Building. It took about 8 years to get the bond passed and the building built which is about how long I have been on the board of education. It was fun being a tour guide on this special day. There were between 500-600 people there. Our new building is beautiful. That was Sunday.

I have been working at school nonstop since I could finally get into my room last Thursday. Tonight was Back to School night in Atlantic. I put in a couple of 12:30 nights. Today was a 14 hour day at school. Well the Marathon is over, we still don't have air-conditioning. We do have beautiful new windows and I can't wait to get started tomorrow. My class is awesome. We are going on a hunt around our building to look for the camping bear, normally we would be looking for the Gingerbread Man but this is a heart healthy twist. Each day when we visit a new place in our building we will find a new ingredient for "trail mix". (craisins, almonds, cheerios, and dried cherries) On Friday we will be making our mix. It's always fun to see them try these new foods.

I have been exercising every day. Jodie and I walked and swam toward the end of last week. Today we walked at 6:00 which means I got up at 5:00. I hope I can keep up the pace.

My clothes are fitting great, they are even a little baggy on the waist. I guess all the hard work is paying off. I've even had some people comment on how I look. Thanks Go Red Better U, it's working slowly but surely.

Blessings,
Laurie
