Balance-Help me find it!
Where is the balance between family, school, work, exercise, etc. . .

Well the day is getting very close. Remember I couldn't go to my room this summer because they were putting air-conditioning and new windows in our building. Well I was there this afternoon and my unit is in (but not working) and my new windows are in. They are awesome.

The janitors have even cleaned half of my carpet. Tomorrow they clean the other half, then I can really get down to business. I put up my bulletin board tonight and punched out some things to be laminated. This time of year is always stressful, making sure your room is just perfect for when the kids come.

School monopolizes my life. I can't seem to get away from it once I'm there. It takes time away from my home, family, exercise, eating right and everything else. I love finding new and different ways to teach and motivate kids to learn. I love my job. But this is my 33rd year of teaching. You'd think I'd have it down pat by now.

This year the theme in my room is "Camp Kindergarten". Over the next few days I will be transforming my room into a campground of learning. I'm going to discipline myself better this year to get my exercise done in the morning or after school. Tomorrow and Thursday, Jodie and I are going to walk and swim early. I'm going to take along lots of water and some of the snacks that I have prepackaged.

Friday is the first official day of school for teachers with "back to school" night on Monday night and Tuesday the first day for students.

I'm hoping that all the exercising and eating well will give me more energy so I can come home from a day with the Kindergartners and still have energy to make a healthy supper and exercise if I haven't done it in the morning. I will really miss it if I don't exercise now. It makes me feel great.

I tried out some of my school pants tonight and they are fitting much better than at the end of the year. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement and support.

Blessings,
Laurie
