Boxer 500
Stacey, Bill made me run!

Bill and I walked/ran the Boxer 500 Sunday in Papillion. It was a 5K. You were supposed to wear boxers to draw attention to "colerectal cancer". There were some pretty interesting ones there. Mine were pretty plain in comparison - just checkered.

It was the first 5K that Bill and I have done together. I've been very faithful to my walking for about a month now, so I was able to go at a pretty good clip without running. But knowing the competitor in Bill , when we had people not very far ahead of us he said, "Let's run for a while I can't walk this fast without running". So that 's what we did. I can't get "running" in my brain for some reason. But on Sunday I really didn't have a choice.

Just before the race it drizzled rain a little and then stopped. The beginning of the race was very neat it actually timed us as we went around. We walked around the lake, it was a great path to walk. We finished the 3.1 miles in 43 minutes 15 seconds. I guess that's not too bad. Gabe even thought it was OK.

Bill was a great support and actually pushed me to run. Thanks Bill!

Next challenge- there will be a 10K on Sept. 27 in Omaha coinciding with the Omaha Marathon and half Marathon. I still plan to walk it if anyone would like to go, let me know. I think it would be about 6.2 miles.

Blessings,
Laurie
