Today I had to work at the Cass County Fair at the food booth with some co-workers from the Atlantic Community Schools. Our shift ran from 10:00-1:30. It's always a good time to work with friends and when we're done working , we get to eat lunch. You know how Fair food is with all the homemade pies and goodies.

On the way to Atlantic, I thought I would ask to bus the tables and clean up. That's what I've done before and I thought that would be pretty safe. But today I had to work in the kitchen. My job was cutting pies and bars. Then my friend Sheryl and I put them on plates and stocked the cooler with the goodies.

If I was at home , this job would have been difficult because I would have wanted to eat the little pieces that broke off in the pie tin. Well when you have on rubber gloves and you're in a hurry like we were today. There wasn't time to eat the little pieces. I put all of them on the plates with the piece of pie.

By the time we finished our shift it was pretty hot. I wanted to eat a "heart healthy" lunch and I think the Cass County Fair Food Booth had some great options for me. I had a hamburger without the bun, some tomatoes, some coleslaw, and a piece of watermelon for dessert and ice tea. I was lucky they had quite a few vegetable choices and fresh fruit.

Way to go Cass County Fair Food Booth and all the people that provided all the fresh produce as I understand it is all donated by community people.

Blessings,
Laurie
