The Daybreak Anchor/Backpack Journalist will serve as anchor of the 4:30am Monday – Friday newscast and as a live (field/newsroom) anchor of the 5am – 7am Daybreak show.
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability in live reporting, creative writing skills, good people skills, multi-tasking and working under the pressure of a deadline.
Candidates should have at least two years’ experience as a reporter or photojournalist for a broadcast news station or news website. Duties of this job include live reporting, creative shooting, writing, editing and posting of news stories, both hard news and features. You’ll use the latest technology, including lightweight next generation video equipment and laptop editing.
The successful applicant’s background must include, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field. He/she must be a self-starter, with knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as website publishing. The ability to deliver news content in a professional manner and represent WOWT at community events is required.
