Why I'm Doing This
I decided to be a part of the BetterU program for two reasons. One, to take charge of my own health and became the best me I could be. The other reason...

My family! I realized that as a wife and mother, I had a lot of control over how healthy my family was eating, and also how physically active we were. And when I look at what kind of role model I was being, I'm a little disappointed in myself. I am grateful to have the opportunity to make the changes necessary to give my family a healthier lifestyle.
My family is my everything. I want to tell you a little bit about them and how they are motivating me to keep on this journey and to do it right!
I am lucky to be married to an incredible man. Ryan and I have been married for almost four years now. He is just an amazing person. He is always the life of the party and makes me laugh every day. He is the best dad in the world, and he works very hard to make sure his girls are taken care of. He hasn't always taken the best care of himself though. He eats out for lunch most days and drinks at least two sodas a day. I was worried about how he would react when I started changing our meals and making things a little healthier. He has been wonderful. On his own he has decided to give up pop and is watching what he is eating for lunch. He has complimented me on all the meals I have made and is encouraging me to stay on track. He helps with the girls so I have time to work out and meet with Stacey. I know I could not do this without him behind me!
Kendall will be three at the end of the month. She is the funniest, cutest, smartest, kindest little girl in the world. Every day she amazed me with the things she does. She loves candy and cookies and juice and HATES veggies! This was a huge motivator for me to sign up for the BetterU program. I know that I am the biggest influence on her life and I need to show her how to live a healthy one I am proud to say she has been trying a few more vegetables and is begging for fruit every day. She knows that she is limited on how much juice she can drink, and she is my own personal cheerleader. When we are out walking and the hills get tough for me, she will start chanting "Go Mommy Go!" It works wonders and gets me through it!
I can't believe my baby Leah is four months old already. Time is going by way too fast! She is all smiles and squeals, and every day she is bigger and more fun! I am really being conscious of the fact that every thing I put into my body gets passed on to her, and that helps me make smarter choices with what I eat. I hope that Leah grows up to understand how important her health is and that she will only know a healthy way of living!
I know how blessed I am to have such a perfect family. I don't want to miss out on time with my family because of heart disease, especially when I know that there are so many ways to prevent it. My family is my motivation to make these changes and to stick it out!
Gotta go-there are some weights and push ups that are calling my name!
