Holiday decorating doesn't have to mean keeping up with the "Griswolds!" It can be quick, easy and simple! So says designer Larry Kleinlein. He and his partner Linda Smith have a company called DeZines here in Omaha. They will come to your home and do the decorating for you.

If that's not in your budget...no worries. They have some advice for the budget conscious... keep it simple...don’t overdo!

Kleinlein says start with the front door. "The front entryway is the window to your home. Garlands over your doorway is a simple way to dress up the front door." Garlands over the mantle is another way to dress your home for the holiday season. He says ribbons and bows are an easy way to add color too. "Make sure the colors of your ribbon coordinate with the colors in your home and with your tree decorations too."

"People are returning to more classical looks this year," says Kleinlein. If you've had the same decorations for a number of years and just want to freshen up the look, Kleinlein says, “grouping your decorations in clusters on your tree or on your table as a centerpiece can be just the right touch to freshen up the look."

If you have candlesticks, group them together and instead of using candles...use Christmas ornaments to top them off. A glass bowl full of colorful inexpensive ornaments can also be used as a centerpiece. Even wrapped boxes with colorful Christmas wrapping and bows set on a piece of garland can add a festive mood in a corner or on your table!

The main thing is to get into the spirit of the holidays. Don't go crazy with the decorations. That can free up some of the stress that can go into dressing the house for the holidays. Put some holiday music on and have fun. Again, Kleinlein says remember, "Sometimes less is more."

A little goes a long way when you're fa la la-ing! If you need a hand in holiday decorating you can call DeZines at 415-8395.
