After a summer of shorts and t-shirts, tank tops and flip-flops, it's time for a cool change.

Fashion may change a little, but style stays the same. Or is it the other way around? Don't know? That’s why we look to the "experts" for direction.

The message this season? Vintage with a "contemporary" edge.

Rachel Cole of Omaha's J. Crew store says look for "classic pieces that look good on any age." Boyfriend inspired clothing with feminine touches such as ruffles and other details dominate the new season's fashion. Cole says "skinny pants are a must." She just had a baby and had reservations that the look was for her, but now she's a believer. "The ankle-length makes the skinny pant wearable for any age, any body size."

Jeans are always a fashion constant. This season, details on the back pockets still rule. Courtney Smith of Mesh, one of the shops at Legacy shopping center, calls this a "bling bling year." She says look for "flap pockets" this season on jeans. Skinny jeans are the rage! Smith says, "The look will go well with your UGG or biker inspired boots." Once again this season, medium to dark washed denim is the "now" look.

Look for no rules when it comes to your kicks! Laura Schrager of DeniZshoes in Rockbrook Village says, "wedges, heels and lots of flats are in-style this season. What's new is they are embellished with things like gromets and buckles." Boots are back again, everthing from ankle boots to taller boots with all sorts of embellishments too.

To pull all of the different "looks" together, don't forget the accessories. Handbags are still big and over the shoulder "hobo" bags are everywhere. At My Compulsion in Village Pointe, co-owner Kelli Fatte says clutches are also "in". Fatte says jewelry is also bold this season. "Look for bold statement necklaces of cuff bracelets." Jewelry at this store is only made by local designers, so it’s the place to buy the "Big O."
