Don't Sweat It!
Don't sweat the small stuff. Sound advice for the big emotional picture in life. But not when it comes to our underarms, palms of our hands or feet. Sweating can be a nuisance ...an embarassment...even a real interruption of "life.!"

Keep Your Cool
It's not pretty! It's smelly! But it's necessary. Sweating allows our body to regulate temperature. It's made up of mostly water but also contains minerals and chemicals...that create well...an unpleasant odor!
There are several factors that can elevate this...heat, exercise or emotions..such as nervousness, anger, embarassment, fear etc.
Using an anti-perspirant can usually control it for most of us.
Dermatologist, Dr. Joel Schlessinger, recommends Ban roll-on unscented. The active ingredient in this product is aluminum chloride.
There has been a concern over the prolonged use of this ingredient linking it to an increase risk of Alzheimers and breast cancer...but so far there is no conclusive scientific evidence of this.
However, there are also "natural" products available for normal sweating. Products such as Weleda's rose deodorant or Burt's Bees Herbal deodorant also work for some. (This is heavy on sage oil!) They are not readily available at drug stores but can be found locally at Omaha's Whole Foods store.
For some people however, excessive sweating is a real problem that can significantly affect their life. The condition is called hyperhidrosis. This type of sweating occurs without any triggers. The people who have this condition generally know if they have it!
Dr. Schlessinger says a new gel treatment called HYDROSOL can help. He says it not only reduces perspiration but odor as well. If you would like more information about this product just go to lovelyskin.com.
So really...why sweat the small stuff indeed?
