A Gem for a Bargain Price
There are still a few "gems" that come at a bargain price. Omaha Town Hall is one of those. It”s a non-profit organization that has been around for years!
Don't scratch your head too hard if you haven't heard about it. Seems it's been a well kept secret! But, no more.
It”s an organization that needs some new blood -- new members! They're reaching out to "working" women as well as "stay-at-home moms!"
The organzation's all-volunteer board brings in speakers; lecturers, with a wide range of topics.
This year's group includes: Jack Hanna (animal lover and conservationist); Mia Farrow (actress and humanitarian activist); Elliot Engel, who lectures on Winston Churchill and last, but not least, Mike Leonard - NBC correspondent and author.
There is a membership fee of $75 per year. Most of the meetings take place around 10:30 in the morning, great for those of you who can take an early lunch or a mid-morning break after dropping the kids off to school.
A member of the volunteer board, Kyle Prentiss says, "The caliber of speakers and relative low cost of the series makes this a cultural plum for our community."
It also doesn't involve a meeting like so many other volunteer groups. You're in-and-out promptly in an hour's time! A luncheon is held following each speaker but that's totally optional. However, there is a question-and-answer period during the luncheon.
We all lead very busy lives but once in a while, don't we all need to take some time to soak up some knowledge, absorb some inspiration or just quietly listen?
