Hello friends! Can you believe its been four years since I left the anchor desk at channel six? Time certainly does not stand still! I hope this finds you and yours healthy and happy!
Our children have grown since you last saw them! Zach will be thirteen in a couple of months. He will be an eighth grader next year! Meghan(Meg) is now 10 and will be in the fifth grade next year. Both of them continue to bring laughter, fun and challenges to my husband John and me. John and I will celebrate our fourteenth anniversary this coming June! (Feels like only 14 minutes......UNDERWATER! That's my husband's attempt at humor!)
The best part of being at home? Having time together as a couple and as a family. John and I have developed new hobbies together (see the wine making video) . And yes, we actually sit down and have dinner together most nights. "Time" has been a blessing to our family!
Perhaps the biggest change for me personally came with the death of my dear Dad (Krishen Persaud) two years ago. He had a monumental impact on my life! My mom continues to live on her own in the same house they shared for over 30 years. It's the first time my Mom has been alone since she married my Dad at the age of 16! Its been nice to have the time to make frequent visits with her. We also talk on the phone every day!
We will be making a trip together at the end of this month along with my daughter to New York to attend a wedding. One of my many cousins' daughter is getting married. It's a Hindu wedding. The festivities usually last about three days! A lot of my Dad's extended family are Hindus. He was not. In fact, he converted to Christianity against his family's wishes at a very young age. He came to the United States to attend seminary in Dubuque, Iowa back in the late '60s.
Anyhow, the trip should be fun. Traveling to Queens, New York is like a trip "back home" for my Mom. Home for my parents was Guyana, South America. My brothers and I were born there too! My parents' families emigrated there from India many, many years ago but kept the customs and traditions of their ancestors.
So, its reunion time for us at this wedding! I'll send back some pictures to share with you! Reunions this time of year are great, aren't they? It's a fun time to create lasting memories. I'd love to hear about some of your summer reunions and get-togethers! You can send me pictures here too! Love to see them.
Its good to be back with you! I feel very fortunate that we now have the technology that will allow me to continue working from home and staying in touch with you! Looking forward to many good conversations ahead!
