The Saunders County Sheriff has released the name of the woman who was killed Tuesday on Highway 77. She is 64-year-old Maralee Taylor of Wahoo.

The crash involved a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle and closed a portion of Highway 77 Tuesday morning. The Saunders County Sheriff told Channel Six News Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said Taylor's car took the brunt of the crash directly in the driver's side door. The Sheriff reports that fog was very heavy at the crash location but it's hard to determine if that played a role in the crash.

A witness said the woman driving the car was passing another car, as the semi was in the on-coming lane. It was too late for either to stop. Sheriff Stukenholtz confirms that's what investigators believe happened.

The truck driver, 66-year-old Allen Naprstek, was not seriously injured.

Sheriff Stukenholtz said that stretch of Highway 77 was shut down for hours near Woodcliff.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. on Hwy 77 and Saunders County Road West. Troopers from the State Patrol worked the scene along with Saunders County Sheriff's Office and emergency crews from Cedar Bluffs.
