There was a different kind of flock Saturday at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Some of the area's young and brightest minds came for a visit as part of the 28th annual Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair.
Middle and high school students presented a variety of science and engineering projects. More than 200 students from 25 schools made entries.
Organizers hold the event every year to promote science. "It's just that fun," said King Science eighth-grader Raelynn McCreary. "It's like you get to show off your knowledge of science, you get to get answers to your questions and you get to meet other people with questions like yours. What's not to like about it?"
Winners at the fair didn't just get recognition, but shared in more than $3,500 in scholarships.
