A young woman barricaded herself in a home Monday afternoon after allegedly stabbing her brother. Her refusal to give up ended up helping the situation.
Police identified the victim as 14-year-old Jhevonn Grant and say only that a 17-year-old girl is the suspect. Initially investigators believed the two were bother and sister.
WOWT 6 News was at the scene west of 33rd and Corby. There officers reinforced the woman’s barricade giving them access to the victim. It also kept the two separated. Once the victim was removed, police were able to get the woman into custody.
The victim suffered wounds not believed to be life threatening. Five people were in the home at the time. It wasn’t immediately clear what the dispute was about.
