Work up an appetite or work off your Thanksgiving dinner at the YMCA. All Omaha Metro YMCA locations will be open and offer free admission for the entire community on Thanksgiving Day.
All ten branches will be open for at least eight hours on Thanksgiving, and many will offer special events, such as the Turkey Trot 5K run at the Southwest YMCA, or the Before the Gobble Workout classes at the Downtown YMCA.
In addition, each YMCA will offer free admission to its facilities, which include gyms, swimming pools, cardio equipment, and more.
"Thanksgiving is the traditional start of the holidays, and we thought what better way to begin the season that by providing access to healthy family friendly activities for everyone in our community?" said YMCA President & CEO Len Romano. "We hope that everyone will get up off the couch and get moving at the Y!"
Jill Schoenherr, Senior Membership Experience Director of the Maple Street YMCA agreed, "We have many families come spend time together before heading over to a relative's house for dinner. Also, this is a great opportunity for anyone who is home for the holidays and doesn't want to miss a workout!"
