Work is beginning on a flood control project that includes a reservoir and recreational facilities near Papillion in Sarpy County.
Last week, the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District awarded a $14.5 million contract to build a 135-acre lake as a flood control effort for the West Branch Papillion Creek area.
A groundbreaking ceremony is Tuesday.
The lake will be surrounded by 335 acres of public parkland that will include a hiking and biking trail, boat ramp and picnic shelters. It's expected to open in 2015.
