Two women tell WOWT 6 News that they believe Nikko Jenkins nearly took their lives in early August. Jenkins is currently in jail, accused of four murders.
The two women, Shamecah Holloway and D’Anna Jones, have scars and a story to tell but police are not officially connecting the dots to implicate Jenkins.
In the early morning hours of August 24th Holloway and Jones found themselves in the middle of gunfire after coming home from a night out.
Jones told us, “That night just keeps playing in my head.”
The two were with Jermaine Stewart. They believe there's bad blood between Stewart and Nikko Jenkins.
Jones said, “I see a beam go across my face and I turned back to the front and I heard gunfire and seen the window shatter and that's when I ran. And I got hit running and I thought I got hit in the spine ‘cause I fell and couldn't move my legs.”
The two were hospitalized for weeks. Holloway was nearly paralyzed.
“I still have bullets in me,” she said.
She's left with scars and bullets but no official word from police on who did this. The two women say they've pieced it together and believe that Nikko Jenkins was the shooter.
The two are relying on postings on Facebook by Jenkins' wife; on a psychiatric exam done on Jenkins and on discussions they had with a police detective.
In the hospital, days after the shooting, Holloway says the detective asked if she knew Nikko Jenkins. Days later, she says the detective told her, “'I'm this close. I'm gonna get him.'” But police didn’t give any names.
Today, three months later, she says she’s heard nothing from police.
Police tell WOWT 6 News that they are investigating this shooting and all possible suspects. But they also say investigations of this magnitude take time.
County Attorney Don Kleine said if and when Nikko Jenkins is named a suspect, he will press charges but as of last check police had not pointed a finger at a shooter in this case.
Kleine did add that soon after the shooting neither victim could positively identify Jenkins.
