An Iowa woman was killed in an interstate crash in Cass County, Iowa Sunday afternoon.
Just before 3 p.m., a Pontiac Grand Am was going west on Interstate 80 near Atlantic, Iowa when it entered a construction zone. A semi-truck was stopped in the left lane as traffic was merging left, and the Pontiac slammed into the trailer of that truck.
The driver of the Pontiac, 26-year-old Christina Franz from Bondurant, Iowa, died at the scene. A passenger in that vehicle, 24-year-old Trevor Franz, was taken to the hospital in Atlantic by medical helicopter.
The semi-driver, 36-year-old Jody Baker, was uninjured.
