Road crews have been out salting and sanding roads, but it is still slick in spots. Private contractors were also out clearing parking lots and sidewalks. The wind blowing the snow around added to the problem.
The conditions were blamed for a pair of Omaha accidents. A woman was hospitalized with a gash to the head after her van hit a snowplow at North 90th and Maple early Sunday morning. Police told WOWT 6 News her injury would have been much worse had she not been wearing a seat belt.
Three others were hospitalized, one in serious condition, after their SUV crashed into a wall along the curve from southbound Interstate 680 to eastbound I-80 around 6 p.m. Saturday.
