A Papillion teenager died after falling off of a Jet Ski at Beaver Lake Saturday afternoon.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Department reports 19-year-old Miranda Hadnot was riding on the back of the watercraft when she fell into the lake. She was able to get back on, but was bleeding. When deputies and rescue crews arrived at a boat dock, Hadnot was unresponsive. She was taken by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities say alcohol and drugs were not factors in the incident.
Her father, Ron Hadnot, told Channel 6 News Sunday she was at the lake for a birthday party for one of her friends and was on the Jet Ski with one or two other people when they hit a wake. She fell off and the impact ruptured her pancreas, causing her to bleed to death.
Miranda's mother, Sue Hadnot, is still in shock. She wanted everyone to know her daughter was a "happy, independent teenager who was just starting her life."
Ron is thankful for their family's support. He also said he kept remembering how she would tell him that she would take care of him when he was older.
