Woman Comes Home To Burglar, Then Tries To Chase Them Down

Omaha Crime Stoppers

Single mother of three Amanda Chin came home to a frightening sight April 10th.

A silver mercury van was backed up to her back porch. She saw it as she was walking to her house, but her three young children did not.

"They were jumping out and I am like panicking," said Chin. "So when the guy saw them running towards the house, he jumped in the car. And my reaction was, I told the kids go into the house and lock the door."

Chin on the other hand did the exact opposite, she jumped back into her car. She followed the crooks while calling in the crime to police. She said police told her to stop the chase and go home.

"I kept following them, I followed for like ten minutes. It's probably a good ten minutes flying through down Center St, down Franklin Road, through Canfield's parking lot, and Shopko," said Chin.

She did finally stop the chase and went home. This is when she came to discover more than ten thousand dollars worth of property was taken. Some of the items included a Samsung TV, Helzberg wedding ring, Apple desktop computer, six coach purses and more.

"You work hard, and people don't care," said Chin through tears.

The crooks got in by prying open her sliding glass door. There wasn't a blocking bar installed. Since then, it has been fixed. The crooks on the other hand are still on the loose.
