Woman Charged With Theft From Nebraska Village
Federal prosecutors have indicted a 51-year-old woman, accusing her of theft from the village of Santee while working as the village's clerk.
Online court records say Lila Mechaley is charged with theft or embezzlement.
Mechaley is accused of writing unauthorized checks to herself from the village's checking account from March 2010 through June 20 this year. Federal prosecutors have not specified how much Mechaley is alleged to have taken.
