A western Nebraska woman accused of misleading people who donated money to help an infant with cancer is scheduled to be arraigned in Furnas County Court on Monday.
Nineteen-year-old Kelsey Kennedy of Edison is facing a felony charge of theft by deception. The Furnas County Sheriff's Department says it learned in December that Kennedy had organized a fundraiser for a young boy with cancer. She planned to sell T-shirts to raise money.
The sheriff's office says more than $1,000 was raised, but none of it was turned over to the boy's family and no shirts were produced.
Kennedy was arrested and released on $3,000 bond.
