Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobile is visiting local Hy-Vee parking lots.
We caught up with a 2012 model but Wienermobiles have been around since the 1930s.
Joseph Zerka will spend a year behind the wheel. He said meeting people like little Ally Keener is a terrific job.
Ally’s mom, Karla Keener of Oakland, Iowa said, “I remember it from being a kid so we've seen it from living in Virginia, so it's pretty cool."
Zerka said, “We have seat belts in here but we don't call the seat belts. We call them our meat belts, of course. We don't have a sunroof we have a bun-roof as well as a glove box, we have a bun box right here and of course when we are driving around on the hot dog highways we like to say we are we haul buns."
The wheeled tube steak has even gone high tech. The Wienerrmobile now has an app.
