Someone took 30-year-old Andre Lovett to a hospital emergency room around 10 p.m. Wednesday and drove away. Lovett had a single gunshot wound. He died Thursday.
A local television station reports that Lovett and another man were robbing a house occupied by four people when the shooting occurred.
Wichita police Lt. Ken Landwehr says the people in the home reported that Lovett and the other man weren't arguing.
Police believe the gun fired accidentally.
Investigators are looking for the person who usually drives the vehicle in which Lovett was taken to the hospital.
