When you hear a car is stolen for parts, why is that? Plain and simple, a car's parts cost more than the whole car put together.
"Parts that wear out the quickest or are wrecked most easily are going to be in the highest demand," said Ofc. Bill Fell, Omaha Police Department.
In the Metro, Fell said the two most commonly stolen cars are a Chevy trucks and a Honda Civics.
It varies on the make and year, but on just about every car, if it was stripped the total cost would be more than if the car was sold as a whole.
