Wednesday's Bloomberg Market Report

More signs of recovery for the housing market. Here's the Wednesday Bloomberg After The Bell Report from the New York Stock Exchange.

New York Stock Exchange
8828.66 down 4.09

American Stock Exchange
2399.65 down 13.54

NASDAQ Composite

Standard And Poors 500

Home prices climbed 5.6 percent in the 12 months through November, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Home prices have been climbing as more people find jobs and low borrowing costs fuel demand.

That also caused shares of residential property listings website Trulia to surge on optimism that the gains in U.S. home prices would help boost its ad revenue.

As for the broader markets, stocks closed higher as lawmakers voted to temporarily raise the debt ceiling and tech stocks rallied amid better than expected earnings.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said regulators will not lift their order grounding Boeing's 787 Dreamliner until they can explain exactly what is causing the plane's battery fires.
