Most of us wouldn't walk outside without a winter coat and boots, but what about man's best friend?
It might make you laugh, but some dog owners won't let their dogs venture into the cold without a pair of shoes on. The Nebraska Humane Society tells us shoes can be crucial for a dog's health.
"When dogs walk through snow and it's wet, what happens is the snow can cling to the hair between the pads of their feet," said Pam Wiese with the Humane Society. "This can create ice balls, which is very painful. It can also create problems, such as preliminary frost bite and some of those issues for a dog's feet."
Shoes can be especially important for smaller dogs.
