Water restrictions are now mandatory in one community.
Previously, the mayor of Weeping Water, Nebraska had requested voluntary compliance from residents to refrain from watering lawns and limiting all other outdoor watering to assure the city maintained an ample water supply.
Due to the continued extreme weather conditions, the “elimination of all lawn watering is now mandatory,” says the city’s Web site and you are asked to “please limit all outdoor water use.” The city’s order says this is a critical step to maintain the drinking water supply and provide an adequate water supply for fire protection.
The Cassgram reports “anyone found watering their lawn is subject to disconnection of water services,” says the city’s order.
