An expert in water management and development has been named the first executive director of the Water for Food Institute at the University of Nebraska.
University President James B. Milliken announced the appointment
of Roberto Lenton to lead the center.
He'll also hold an appointment as professor of biological systems engineering at the Lincoln campus.
Lenton has been chairman of the World Bank Inspection Panel
since 2009. He'll assume his new post in Nebraska on Feb. 1, after
he completes his duties as chairman.
The university voted last fall to establish the Water for Food
It will focus on the efficient use of water while ensuring an adequate food supply, as well as creating policies and education programs.
