MUD crews spent the good part of Monday repairing a water main break in South Omaha. It all started early Monday morning, when the break sent water surging across several blocks.
Responders were first called to 36th & L around 3 a.m., when a motorist phoned 911, saying their vehicle was filling with water. When police arrived they found water several feet high, flowing along 36th Street.
Neighboring company Nebraska Beef was forced to move cattle out of the area, per federal regulations.
The 24" break was repaired and water service is expected to be returned to Nebraska Beef later in the evening.
Traffic is restricted to one lane at 36th Street until they can finish the full repair of the area.
This has been a busy few days for MUD. Extreme heat caused a dozen other breaks over the weekend.
