Water Damage Shuffles Classrooms

Papillion Jr. High is dealing with water damage from this week’s heavy rains and mold has turned up. Four classrooms were relocated.

The school district sent the following letter to parents of the students:

We want to make you aware of a situation we are managing at Papillion Junior High. The heavy rain on Wednesday evening caused water leaks in several classrooms. As the Papillion-La Vista School District (PLSD) began investigating, evidence of mold was discovered behind a classroom wall. An outside remediation company was immediately contacted and they came to the school last night. As a precautionary measure, it was determined that four classrooms (Mr. Ebsen, Mrs. Ehlers, Ms. Olson, and Mrs. Sis) needed to relocate until the issue could be further investigated and a plan of action could be determined.

The PLSD takes this very seriously and has contracted with an outside third party expert to conduct a thorough assessment of the entire school. We will share the results of this assessment with parents and staff once it is completed.

Providing a safe learning environment for your children and our staff is a priority for the PLSD and Papillion Junior High. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact the school directly. Thank you for your understanding as we work through this situation.
