Wahoo hopes to reopen its public library by the end of this summer as repairs continue following last January's ceiling collapse.
Much of the ceiling collapsed under the weight of accumulated water from a fire sprinkler pipe that froze and burst during bitter cold weather on January 7th. The problem was discovered before the collapse, so firefighters and other city workers were able to deploy plastic tarps over the bookshelves. Damage was estimated at around $160,000.
Residents have been borrowing books from a temporary library set up at the Veterans Memorial Building.
