Part of the ceiling of Wahoo’s public library has collapsed. A fire sprinkler pipe froze and burst during the bitter cold on Tuesday.
Library workers spotted the leak and called for help. Firefighters and city workers then raced to cover as many books with plastic tarps as they could before the ceiling gave way.
Some books were water damaged. They'll be freeze-dried to prevent mold.
Most of the books will be moved so workers can repair the ceiling and replace the carpeting.
